Description

This pitcher is a real relic… Indeed, it dates from the XIXth century, because its creator Manuel Cipriani Gomes Mafra, director of the famous Portuguese earthenware factory of Caldas de Rainha (north of Lisbon) died at the beginning of last century. His work, inspired by the naturalism of Bernard Palissy, was exhibited for the first time in Vienna in 1873, then at the international exhibitions of Philadelphia (1876), Paris (1878) and Rio de Janeiro (1879).
